Flagship Response - 24 7

About us

If you were to ask any of our staff what Flagship is about, you'd find the answer is our customers.

It may sound simple, but we believe that by providing excellent customer service, first time, we can help create places where people want to live.

In this section of the website you can read about what we do and our history, as well as find out more on:

What we do

Flagship collectively owns, manages and provides over 21,000 affordable homes to people across East Anglia. Together with our principal Group Members Flagship Kings' Forest, Flagship Peddars Way and Flagship Suffolk Heritage, we also provide homes and services for older and more vulnerable people and accommodation and training opportunities to 16-25 year-olds through Flagship Foyers.

Our relationship with our customers is at the heart of everything we do. We believe in providing 'service right, first time', and are one of the only housing associations operating in the UK today that can be contacted 24 hours a day, 7 days a week.

We work in East Anglia where there is a high demand for housing and a lack of supply, so building more affordable homes across the region is one of our priorities. As an investment partner with the Homes and Communities Agency, we are currently developing in excess of 750 new homes each year for our Group Members and strategic development partners.

Flagship is a not-for-profit organisation, regulated by the Tenant Services Authority (TSA) and the HCA.

How it all began

The story of Flagship can be traced back to 1991 with the formation of Suffolk Heritage Housing Association following the successful transfer of over 5,200 homes by Suffolk Coastal District Council. Two years later in 1993, Breckland Council successfully transferred over 6,700 homes - resulting in the formation of Peddars Way Housing Association.

In 1996 Peddars Way Housing Association and Peddars Way Care, which provided care services to older and vulnerable customers, created the Great Eastern Housing Group. Suffolk Heritage meanwhile was busy creating a charitable company called Housing Employment and Rural Training (HEART), offering supported housing for young people aged 16-25 in a foyer environment. HEART Foyers (now known as Flagship Foyers) was finally created in 1998.

In that very same year the Flagship Housing Group was established after Great Eastern Housing Group and Suffolk Heritage Housing Assocation decided to merge in order to provide greater benefits to its customers. The creation of Flagship brought economies of scale and increased the potential of both housing associations to provide more new homes and greater investment in existing homes.

In 2004, following a successful stock transfer of over 2,600 homes from Forest Heath District Council, Kings' Forest Housing became a member of the Group.

A successful rebranding excercise to enhance the Flagship identity in 2009, also saw a change in brand name for our three principal Group members who are now known as Flagship Kings' Forest, Flagship Peddars Way and Flagship Suffolk Heritage.
