Ideas shared for future of Barnham Cross estate in Thetford

People living at Barnham Cross estate in Thetford have shared what they like about their neighbourhood and what they would like to see improved.
Around 25 people came along to a drop-in event for residents of the south-west part of the estate.
Flagship, a social landlord with a significant number of homes in Thetford, has been engaging with residents on the Barnham Cross Estate since 2020 to develop a plan for regeneration focusses on enhancing pedestrian links and community spaces, formalising parking, and replacing underused garages with new affordable homes.
A community vision was co-created in 2022 and refreshed with the community in 2025. It highlights what residents wanted to see in their community, including less anti-social behaviour, a good choice of quality homes, and more things for young people in the area to do.
Ann Hynes, Barnham Cross resident, said the drop-in was a great way to plan a way forward for the neighbourhood.
She said: “It’s good to get people’s ideas, because everyone has different ideas because it affects everyone differently. We’d like to see something for kids to do.”
